About the Course

Structure

This course offers training and capacity building in health promotion using a self-study approach. While the course modules are presented in a suggested order, your learning will be self-directed. Each module can be worked through independently of the other modules. As learners, you can chose the aspects of the course on which you prefer to focus.

Each module follows a similar structure, which is summarized in this chart.

Module Heading What is Covered
Introduction Brief statement of the concepts covered in the module
Learning Outcomes Brief description of what you will be doing/be able to do by the end of the module
Reflective Exercise Introductory exercise to start you thinking about the topic covered in the module
Content Discussion Commentary/lecture written by the subject matter specialists; key topics presented by sub-heading. This section includes illustrative cases, as well as explanatory tables and charts.
Reflective Exercise Summary exercise which focuses on application of learning introduced in the module to your practice
Readings and Resources Readings and resources used in the development of the module, as well as additional online or print references on the topic.
