Reflective
Journal
One strategy
that may assist you in organizing your own learning is a Reflective
Journal that you compile as you work through the modules. Consider
keeping this journal to guide your learning and critical reflection.
A learning journal is a useful means to ensure that you get the
most out of this self-study course; some people find that actively
writing out what they are learning helps to clarify what they
just read. Use
it to:
capture
your thoughts on new concepts and theories
try out the tools that
are introduced in the modules
reflect on the implications
for your current practice
stimulate possible networking
ideas
create/add to your list
of resources
Reflective
Exercises
To help and
support you, the course is designed to draw on your own experiences
in the field of health promotion and prompt you to step
back a moment to think. Each module presents an introductory
reflective exercise in which you are asked to think about some
aspect of your existing knowledge and practice; reflect on what
you know about the topic and what you would like to know. At the
end of each module, there is a concluding reflective exercise
to help you gather your thoughts on the material presented in
the content discussion. These exercises contain Points to
Ponder, which prompt you to reflect on and synthesize your
growing knowledge.
