Before you continuing working through the other three categories of theories discussed in this module, consider the following questions and contribute to your Reflective Journal.

Points to Ponder

To date, the theories explaining the change process in individuals have mostly been applied to “lifestyle” issues, such as smoking and diet. Do you see a place for these theories in addressing broader health determinants? Why/why not?
As was noted in the previous section, a group of behavioural scientists identified eight conditions, one or more of which must be present for successful behaviour change. Can you think of any conditions that are missing from the list?
